Room on the Broom

Sadly I missed taking part in Louis' Blogville May Challenge about favourite stories but today I would like to share some photos of a trip to Anglers' Country Park last week where we found lots of fun carvings of the characters from 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson. It is a fun story about a witch who agrees to give a lot of different creatures a ride on her broom after they have helped her to find things that have blown away - her hat, her bow, her wand....When the broom breaks under the weight of all the creatures it looks like disaster but everything turns out well in the end!

This is the start of our walk around the lake. As you can see, Crybbe came too, and the puppies in the buggy and Magic as well as some other doggies who enjoyed the morning walk.

This was the first carving - the dog who found the witch's hat when it blew away.

And this is the parrot who found the witch's hair bow.

And here is the frog who found the witch's wand. The puppies wanted to pose by this one and I am just telling them about the story so they know why the frog has a wand!

This is the dragon that tried to eat the witch! He looks a bit drunk here BOL

And the best one of all - the witch and her cat on her broom with her cauldron..and me!

Of course, being a country park, there was plenty of other good things to see so here are a few more pictures of the lake and the geese and flowers we saw there..as well as the dogs having fun.

Irises beside the lake.

It was a lovely sunny morning and we all had a great time finding the carvings and having a run by the lake. I hope we can go back there another day.

  1. That was another fabulous day out! We think running by the lake would have been fun...but Bella would have been IN the lake. We thought that the dog carving was holding a HUGE shark tooth....BOL!
