Today I can tell you about a fun day we had on my Mum's birthday last week. Well it was also my Uncle Raven's birthday too of course as they are brother and sister :-) This photo is me posing in the doggy beach hut at the Dunes Cafe in Winterton. They have special beach huts for peeps with dogs so they are sheltered when the weather is cold or wet. The huts are comfortable with cushions and pictures on the walls and we enjoyed having our own special space to rest for a while and the peeps enjoyed coffee and cakes too!
This is a picture of the hut from the outside.
And here are some of the pictures on the walls.
Here are Saoirse and Raven in their warm jumpers :-)
After a rest we had a walk along the beach. Doggies must be on lead here as it is a special part of the coast where the seals come to have their pups and they must not be disturbed.
We saw this young male seal swimming about and the peeps were very happy to see him but they were hoping to see the mother seals and babies so we drove further on to a different beach.
This is me checking that we had arrived at the right place. To see the seals everyone had to walk along the top of the dunes so as not to upset the mothers and their little ones. Dogs were allowed to watch too but only on lead.
And there they were - lots and lots of seal mothers with their sweet babies :-)
The baby seals are called pups just like us doggy babies! They are so furry and cute.
But...then a scary thing happened! The male seals are looking for the females who have weaned their babies so they can mate again and they are noisy and angry and looking for a fight !!
They bite and attack each other - we did not want to look and the mothers with babies did not like it one bit either.
This mother is trying to protect her baby from the noise and fighting.
Some of the seals hid by the rocks for shelter.
After watching the seals we had a little walk round and then back home for special birthday treats :-)
